MudTown Farms opens after twelve years and the community comes out to celebrate. For Tim Watkins and family, a new day begins, and the torch is passed from father to son. The community provides feedback on the urban garden’s opening, including perspectives from a pastor, an 18-year-old double amputee headed to college, and a crisis intervention specialist.

10 Days in Watts, Episode 3: Watts Pride

With four days until the opening of MudTown, the next generation of community leaders are introduced as the effects of environmental racism are explored. Perspectives are shared from local residents and community leaders that includes Michael Krikorian, a renowned journalist who has covered Watts for decades and Johanna Rodriguez, a Watts resident on the Mayor’s task force.

10 Days in Watts, Episode 2: We are Taught to Survive

A week from opening, the farm faces challenges, deadlines, and cost overruns, but Tim Watkins and the team press on. We also meet several community leaders, including Janine Watkins, speaking about their varied experiences growing up in the Watts community, the influence of Black History, the need for Latino voices and a common thread shared between them.

10 Days in Watts, Episode 1: Legacy

MudTown Farms, an urban garden twelve years in the making, is ten days from opening in the Los Angeles community of Watts. Tim Watkins, President of the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC), shares his vision of a family’s dedication to their beloved community. The WLCAC, a community Center with a powerful legacy, has done much for this underserved community for almost 60 years.

10 DAYS IN WATTS (2023)

In February 2023, Wishing Well Entertainment joined forces with KCET Los Angeles to present “10 DAYS IN WATTS” on both KCET and PBS SoCal. This gripping 4-part docuseries shines a light on the unbreakable spirit and optimism of the residents of Watts, a neighborhood in Los Angeles that is densely populated and underserved.

With a verité-style approach, “10 DAYS IN WATTS” takes an immersive look at the diverse and complex individuals who call this community home. Despite the challenges they face, these resilient people are determined to thrive, as evidenced by their creation of Mudtown Farms, a community garden and educational space that brings together the young and old to celebrate their shared history.

LA Foodways (2019)

LA Foodways looks at the storied agricultural history of Los Angeles to understand present food waste challenges and opportunities to bring fresh foods to urban communities.

From the importance of orange crops in the 19th century to the massive scale of food waste in the U.S., the series is a deep dive into the different manners in which local organizations are coming together to ensure the future of agriculture in the region in order to identify environmentally friendly solutions for the future.

On Begley Street (2013)

On Begley Street follows noted actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. and his wife, Rachelle Carson-Begley, as they built a new home under LEED Platinum-certified standards.

The streaming series earned several awards, including Best New Media at the Burbank Film Festival, Best of Show at the Aurora Awards and Outstanding Reality Series at LA Web Fest. It was also nominated for a Best Reality/Documentary Series honor at the Environmental Media Association’s EMA Awards.
